The American Heart Association recently published a study that suggests standing up more often can help postmenopausal women reduce their risk of vascular diseases. Researchers found that simply increasing the rate at which you stand up can help lower blood pressure, a known risk factor for peripheral artery disease (PAD).
While the study focuses on women, the study’s findings may also apply to men at risk for PAD or other vascular diseases, emphasizing the vital role regular movement has in lowering the risk and progression of these conditions. USA Vascular Centers recommends physical activity to reduce symptoms and improve quality of life in addition to providing minimally invasive treatments for PAD.
